About Kenilworth Swimming Pool

Kenilworth Swimming Pool is a community run seasonal pool that opens yearly in the warmer months from the September school holidays until the following Easter.

The facility includes a solar heated 25m pool with a waterslide. There is plenty of seating and shade along the poolside. The pool is located in the Kenilworth township on the Maleny-Kenilworth Road, adjacent to the skate park and the showgrounds where camping is available.

Kenilworth can be found in the heart of the picturesque Mary Valley in the Sunshine Coast hinterland 30 minutes drive from Maleny, 25 minutes from Eumundi or 40 minutes from Nambour and Gympie. The pool is a popular place for visitors who come from all over the region for its iconic waterslide, family friendly atmosphere, and crystal clear water. Kenilworth Swimming Pool is run by a group of community volunteers and is supported by Sunshine Coast Council.

Better access to Kenilworth Swimming Pool

Thanks to a grant from the Sunshine Coast Council patrons with mobility difficulties will find it easier to enter and exit the Kenilworth Swimming Pool.

Last season it was noted by pool staff that some patrons, with physical issues or undergoing aqua physio therapy, found it difficult to access the water via the current ladders used by the general population. After some research by staff, on the most achievable method of relieving this situation, the committee agreed that having a light-weight, mobile set of stairs constructed was the way ahead.

After approaching Sunshine Coast Council with a proposal for financial assistance to obtain stairs, council agreed that a definite need existed and came to the party with a grant for the full cost of the stairs.

The stairs were custom made for the pool, by Call Pancho, out of light weight aluminium and have wheels under the base allowing them to be moved in and out of the pool easily when required. The hand rails and checker plate foot pads will add grip and security for those who need it.

The stairs have been tested to 105kg by a pool volunteer staff member who said he felt no sign of the movement at all. This staff member has an ambulatory disability and found it much easier to get in and out of the water than he has in past seasons.

The Kenilworth Swimming Pool Association Inc. would like to thank the Sunshine Coast Council for grant that assisted with the purchase of these stairs.

Our facilities include:

  • 25m solar heated pool
  • Waterslide
  • Shaded seating
  • Kiosk selling drinks and snacks

  • Other upgrades include the revamped water slide with brand new slide stairs and platform, as well as a new robotic vacuum cleaner.
